Love, Truth, Conviction

This page is devoted to my personal testimony as a Christian, a follower of Jesus. If you have stumbled upon this page, you might be asking ‘why would someone devote a page on a business website to something so personal, so non-secular?’ The answer can be summed up in three words: Love, Truth and Conviction.

Love

From an early age I knew that God loved both YOU and me. He created the world and each person in it and his love for us is immense. John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him, should not perish, but should have everlasting life.” Romans 5:8 says “But God demonstrates his love for us in this: That while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Truth

Most people are seeking truth in their lives. Most of us want truth from our loved ones, from our politicians from newspapers and television reporters who bring us the events of the day and the week. Perhaps we just want clarity. Perhaps we believe that in finding the truth of events we will be able to perceive the deeper meaning in them. The search for truth and knowledge is a lifelong quest for most people. Proverbs 9:10 says this, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” The heart of the matter, the real truth of the matter is this…Jesus was not just another religious leader, not just another prophet. He was a man who was also the Son of God. He came to this earth over 2,000 years ago and lived among us so that God could fully demonstrate his love for us. While he was on earth, he healed the blind, the lame, lepers, people with mental illness and demon possession. He even resurrected a few from the dead. He fed 5,000 with five loaves of bread and two fish and then gathered up the leftovers so that nothing would go to waste. These are historic facts. The events of Jesus’ life were undisputed during his time. Even those who opposed his ministry could not dispute the reality of his miracles. It was those indisputable miracles that testify to the truth of Jesus’ ministry, the truth of his anointed mission from God. No other religious leader before or since his time has demonstrated his love for humanity so powerfully. None have performed the miracles that Jesus did….. not Buddha, not Confucius, not Mohammed, not any of the shamanic, man-made idols.

And then he was crucified. Jesus, a perfect, blameless person, the Son of God, was sent to a cross to die an excruciating death. Even on the cross Jesus said, “Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing?” (Luke 23:34). Even in death, Jesus showed love and forgiveness to us. But, his death and burial was not the end. Three days after his death, he was resurrected back to life. He appeared in this resurrected state to his disciples several times. He spoke with them, ate meals with them, and gave them a chance to touch the wounds of his crucifixion. He spent some 40 days with various people, explaining his ministry, explaining the meaning of his death, burial and resurrection before finally ascending into heaven.

Conviction

My conviction to share this with you comes from Jesus’ own edict to his followers. “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16: 15-16) It also comes from my love for each person who might read this page… It might be socially awkward to share the gospel with you. I do not want to insult anyone or to imply that we at Signet Art have some litmus test of faith for determining whom we serve. Quite the opposite! We serve all our clients with equal respect and professionalism. But, I will quote a well-known atheist for a moment. Penn Jillette, the speaking half of the magic act Penn and Teller, is an outspoken atheist. He made this statement recently after a fan of his presented him with a bible and shared the gospel.

Penn Jillette:
“I don’t respect people who do not proselytize. If you believe that there is a heaven and a hell, and people could be going to hell but you think, well, it’s not worth telling them this because it’s socially awkward, how much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize? How much do you have to hate somebody to believe that everlasting life is possible and NOT tell him or her about it? I mean, if I believed beyond a shadow of a doubt that a truck was coming at you and you did not believe it, but the truck is bearing down on you, there’s a certain point at which I tackle you. And this(eternal life) is MORE important than that.”

That’s my conviction. I want God’s best for you. I share this testimony in the hope that it will open your mind to God’s love for you. If you have never considered your relationship with God, my hope and prayer is that you will begin to seek His face, to seek the truth in your own life.
